Ferries from Doolin
Ferries operate from the small harbour in Doolin County Clare from April 1st to September 30th.
The ferries operating from Doolin are smaller and less comfortable the those operating from Galway and Rossaveal. Up to 3 companies compete for customers from small pre-fab (PortaCabin) type offices. You should note that at certain times of the tide some ferries cannot come alongside the pier and it is neccessary to travel to the ferry in small and in our view dangerous outboard motor powered curraghs.
A small cabin on the pier serves tea, coffee and snacks while you wait what can often be a considerable time for your ferry.
The best time to travel from Doolin is early in the morning as most companies like to leave early allowing the tourist the most time possible on the Islands for day trips.
